Obtaining Bacterial Cellulose through Selected Strains of Acetic Acid Bacteria in Classical and Waste Media

چکیده

Bacterial cellulose (BC) is a natural exopolysaccharide characterized by high purity, mechanical strength, and the ability to absorb various compounds. Obtaining BC on an industrial scale expensive, mainly due cost of culture media. Replacing classical media with waste from agri-food industry may be promising way reduce costs when obtaining BC. The aim these studies was compare effectiveness biosynthesis in using two strains, Komagataeibacter xylinus K2G30 Gluconacetobacter hansenii ATCC 23769. Classical Hestrin−Schramm, YPM, GY, GYE were used. banana peels, celery pomace, fish waste, hemp seed deproteinized acid whey (DAW), non-deproteinized (NDAW). highest efficiency observed YPM it 5.23 g·dm−3 K. K2G30. In media, yield AW, 2.99 addition, demonstrated that presence proteins lactic AW influenced xylinus. results indicate possible obtain especially AW.

comparison of bacterial cellulose production among different strains and fermented media

the effect of different carbon sources on bacterial cellulose production by gluconacetobacter xylinus (ptcc 1734) and two newly isolated strains (from vinegar) under static culture conditions was studied. the production of bacterial cellulose was examined in modified hestrin-shramm medium by replacing d-glucose with other carbon sources. the results showed that the yield and characteristics of ...

Utilization of ethanol by acetic acid bacteria.

It is well known that the acetic acid bacteria can rapidly oxidize ethanol to acetic acid. But whether ethanol can serve as a source of carbon and energy for these bacteria has not been clearly established. Pasteur (1868) noted that Mycoderma aceti which is undoubtedly Acetobacter aceti (Frateur, 1950) can grow well in ethanol media only if acetic acid is also present. Addition of one or two pe...

Nutrition of the acetic acid bacteria.

Relatively little information is available on the specific nitrogen and growth factor requirements of the acetic acid bacteria. The early observation of Hoyer (1898) and of Beijerinck (1898) that only Acetobacter aceti can develop in a mineral salts-ammonium nitrogen medium with ethanol plus acetate as the source of carbon has acquired taxonomic and diagnostic value for this and, more recently,...
